How Do I Check Computer Code On 95 Dodge Ram?

My 1995 Dodge Ram all of a sudden started stalling when i drive it and sometimes wont start, even after sitting all day. My Service engine soon light is on now also. 96 and up they can use the hand held computers to check the code .How do I check to see what code it is displaying on a 95 dodge ram?

Turn the key, off and on 3 times and watch the engine light. It will flash in pairs of two. The first will be flash…flash.flash. That is 12. It will always be first. That says the battery has been disconnected at some time. The trouble codes will be next. The last will be 55.

I’d recommend using both the ignition code method and the hand held device due to getting more info , plus maybe even a more accurate code reading.
Here are a few things to watch for , when you see the service engine flash once you’ve used the key 3 times left in the run position and it flashes once , then pauses then flashes twice in a row thats code 12 means battery has been disconnected within the last 50 to 100 starts.If you see code 33 it is referring to the A/C system and if your vehicle doesn’t have A/C it’s a normal code to appear but if you’ve A/C then check the black device a Transducer that plugs in and has vac lines connected to the A/C system. If code 55 appears it means no more codes stored or end of the cycle.

you do turn the key off and on and on the third time leave it on but don’t start it,the first code that you,ll probably get on it may be a code 12 though,you have to be really careful when reading the codes because if you miss one flash you have to start all over with it again and this can sometimes take a lot of time to retrieve the codes doing it this way,auto zone can scan it for free and tell you what the codes are if you don’t have no luck from reading it this way,count them real careful though,one miss reading and you may wind up thinking you have a problem that you really don’t have,good luck.
